WiE GROW, a day-camp for girls who are going into grade 8 in the fall. WiE GROW is sponsored by The ScottsMiracle-Gro Company.
Dates: Monday, July 28 - Friday, August 1, 2014.
Times: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Women in Engineering Program (WiE) at The Ohio State University and made possible through the generous support of The ScottsMiracle-Gro Company, WiE GROW is a five-day, non-residential summer program designed to introduce middle school girls to the exciting world of engineering and to ignite their interest in an engineering-related career. The camp will take place on the Ohio State University Columbus campus, and lunch will be provided each day for the participants
WiE GROW offers young women (going into 8th grade) the opportunity to find out about engineering and how it impacts our lives. Each day, the participants engage in a series of fun, hands-on activities that get them thinking and working together as engineers. These activities are led by Ohio State University engineering faculty, staff, and students, as well as professionals from ScottsMiracle-Gro. In addition to emphasizing teamwork and creativity, the activities demonstrate the many ways that participants can use their interest and skills in math and science to make a difference in the world.
Most of the activities take place on the OSU Columbus campus; however, participants also travel to several area businesses and companies, including ScottsMiracle-Gro, during the week of the camp to learn more about what engineers do in the “real world.” Transportation to these off-campus locations is provided by the program.
